Ryuozaki Kokin-no-Mori Park is a place where you can enjoy shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) and a history trail. It is also located close to the Ryuozaki Kofungun, a cluster of tombs from the 5th and 6th centuries. Ryuozaki Kofungun consists of around 20 circular tombs distributed across the hill behind Kaido Shrine, and to date, six of these have been investigated. The tomb mounds are 14 to 17 meters in diameter and are of the split-rock stacking style believed to be early-style horizontal hollow rock chambers. At the entrance of No. 6 tomb is the carving of a family crest, and excavated items include a gilt bronze quiver, a Japanese-made seven beast mirror, a gilt bell, a magatama bead and many other items through which the influence of Chinese and Korean culture is apparent. These items are extremely high in academic value as they indicate the powerful groups of this region in those times. This is a mini theme park where visitors can experience history and nature with the six tombs, Kaido Shrine, Meditation Forest, Philosophy Forest, Light Forest, the 600 year old camphor tree (natural monument of Saga prefecture), wild animals and more.
