Midway up Sakureidake is "Koyo-no-Mori" ("Forest of Autumn Leaves") which interested members of the community spent almost thirty years creating.Under the slogan of "The Autumn Leaves will Save the Planet", roughly 10,000 Japanese maple and common maple trees awe onlookers with their brilliant colors. Inside "Fuyusanso", a building made from the waste materials of a house built 100 years ago, in which visitors can enjoy light refreshments such as green tea, torimeshi (chicken rice) and so on.
