Tateiwa Observation Deck

Tateiwa Observation Deck

Tateiwa Observation Deck Tateiwa Lookout sits on top of a mountain to the southeast of Ureshino hot spring town.
It takes roughly 15 minutes by car up a mountain road to reach the lookout from the town and there is a parking lot which holds 30 vehicles.
From the lookout, not only is it possible to take in the beautiful sight of Ureshino hot springs directly below, but on fine days it is even possible to gaze upon the majestic sight of Ariake Sea and Taradake in the distance.
This lookout is favored particularly for the night view of Ureshino hot spring town that it offers and is a popular date spot amongst young couples.

Well known as a tea-producing area, Ureshino City boasts tea plantations stretching before your eyes throughout the City. In particular, the area around the Tateiwa Observation Deck is one of the largest tea-producing areas in the City, with the unique landscape of tea plantations on both sides of the road that attracts a number of travelers with a camera.
It also serves as the starting point of the crossing forest road of Mt. Taradake from Ureshino. The “22nd Century Asian Forest” and “Hirokoura Camp Site” along the road as well as “Kasuga Valley” located 15-minute drive away are famous for red leaves in autumn.
