Terraced Rice Fields

Terraced Rice Fields

Terraced Rice Fields These rice terraces were made by tilling the soil of a mountainside, and carefully stacking rocks to ensure the soil and water of the rice paddy did not escape. When viewed from above, these rice terraces form a beautiful geometric pattern. All of the rice fields created and maintained by generations of local farmers are uniquely shaped, with no two being the same. The early summer scene of the sky reflected on the rice paddy's watery surface can be accurately described as a work of art made by nature and man together. Looking at these rice terraces, built with some physical strain it is staggering to contemplate, the fact that rice is something very special to Japanese people could not be clearer. Currently, the town is developing a farming village which utilizes the rice terraces, to the catchphrase of "Making a farming hometown which carries on the spirit of our ancestors". "Rice Terrace Owner", where people are recruited to experience rice production through planting and harvesting in a way specific to rice terraces, is one unique activity part of this development (Takenobu Taro Rice Terrace Association). Amidst this timeless scene created by the rice terraces, maybe you will remember something important you'd forgotten while making contact with the lives of people unchanged since times of old.
